FIELD GUIDE
The story
Hampton Beach has a Santa of its own, 16 feet tall, outside the Sand and Santa gift shop. The Hampton Beach Village District's visitor site lists the nautical and Christmas-themed shop as an attraction and invites visitors to take a photo with the figure. The shop was celebrating its 10th season in December 2025, when the Union Leader described the Santa as fiberglass, reportedly one of only six such figures in the country, and originally an icon on Route 1 in Hampton Falls. The owner said the figure was bought as a surprise gift from her brother and customized with beach-themed decorations, and that a custom steel base with long screws holds it in the ground, so it has survived high winds at the beach. It is protected by a fence to keep people from climbing it, and the owner said it is not for sale. Roadside America describes a tan Santa in a Hawaiian shirt carrying a boogie board and lists the shop at 63 Ocean Boulevard, on the west side just south of M Street.
