The story

Cabbage Patch Kids are “born” in a hospital in a small Georgia mountain town.
BabyLand General Hospital stands in Cleveland, about 75 miles north-east of Atlanta, according to the New Georgia Encyclopedia. The encyclopedia (article last edited 2013) calls it partly a doll museum and partly a gift shop, with staff in medical scrubs and a Magic Crystal Tree under which five dolls were said to be “born” every hour.
