Account deletion
Delete your Project Big Things account
Delete inside the app, or request deletion from the web without needing the app installed.
In effect from 12 September 2026.
Delete in the app
If you can sign in, open Your account and choose Delete my account. The app asks you to confirm before anything is removed.
The deletion is server-authoritative. If you have an active membership, Project Big Things first attempts to stop it and verifies that it stopped. If that cannot be confirmed, your account stays open so you are not left with a subscription you can no longer manage.
Request deletion without the app
You do not need the app installed to request deletion. Email privacy@projectbigthings.com from the email address on your Project Big Things account and ask us to delete the account.
If we cannot safely identify the account from the request, we may ask for the minimum information needed to verify that the request belongs to you. We will never ask for your password.
What deletion removes
Deleting your account removes the account and the personal collection attached to it, including visits and their dates and private notes, your want-to-visit list, Challenge progress and achievements, Visitor Log entries and their photos, your member profile image, and photo contributions that are still awaiting review.
Stored image files are removed at the same time wherever possible. If a storage deletion cannot complete immediately, the account deletion still proceeds and the remaining file is queued for prompt operational cleanup.
What can remain
Two narrow records may remain after account deletion. A moderation report you made about somebody else’s contribution can remain with your identity removed because it may still be evidence about public content. A catalogue photograph that was already reviewed and published can remain with its permission record; you can separately ask us to consider taking a published photograph down.
The Privacy Policy is the authority for the current retention and deletion promises.
